The numbers on unsold homes
Across eight major Indian markets, 525,695 homes were unsold at the end of June 2026. That is 4 percent more than a year before. Most of the increase was at the expensive end. Unsold homes priced from ₹2 crore to ₹5 crore went up by 43 percent.
Hyderabad has more unsold homes than any other major Indian city. At the current speed of sales, it will take almost two years to sell them.
Mudit Gupta, the head of Anarock Group in Hyderabad, said: "Currently, the demand is for quality, not quantity."
What this means when you buy here
The area average tells you very little. The project tells you almost everything.
When a tower sells well in an area with many new homes, there is a reason. That reason is usually what you are buying. A tower that does not sell well is a risk for you at handover: empty floors and a small maintenance fund.
